Hamilton flagship — destination retail and entertainment centre

Destination Retail & Entertainment —
Built BIG to be the Attraction.

Nine regional hubs across Aotearoa New Zealand. 150–200,000 m² each. 300-350 stores. Clean energy on the roof, public transport at the door, and a full day out inside.

The idea

A national network of destination-scale shopping and entertainment centres that combine retail, leisure, clean energy, and transport in one place. Each centre is designed as an all-day experience — shop, dine, watch a movie, bowl or skate, test-drive a car, and charge your EV while you’re here.

New Zealand has no destination-scale retail outside Auckland — leaving entire regions under-served.

  • Scale: 150–200,000 m² | 300-350 stores
  • Energy: ~20 MW rooftop solar | ~1,000 EV chargers
  • Transport: bus interchanges + rail where viable
  • Build: fast large-span system (Formsteel)

Why it matters

Strong regional demand — but no destination-tier retail. These centres close the gap, keeping spend local and giving tenants high footfall, long dwell time, and access to under-served markets.

Group icon

Untapped demand

  • • Large catchments
  • • High retail spend
  • • Strong weekend traffic
Missing formats icon

Missing formats

  • • No destination centres
  • • No large screen format cinema / entertainment spine
  • • Sites too small for modern retail

All-day performance

  • • Higher dwell time
  • • Bigger basket size
  • • National rollout efficiency
